Two young siblings in Ashland, Ohio, are being praised for their quick thinking after helping save their school bus driver during a medical emergency.

Surveillance video shared by Crestview Local Schools shows 14-year-old Charlie and his 8-year-old sister, Catrina, springing into action when they realized something was wrong.

Catrina, a third-grader seated near the front of the bus, noticed the driver was unwell and asked if she was OK. When the driver shook her head no, Catrina rushed to alert other students and her brother.

Charlie, a seventh-grader, immediately grabbed the bus radio and called the school for help, knowing it was the fastest way to get assistance.

School officials later shared that another student, eighth-grader Kali, also helped by directing students to move to the back of the bus and calling 911. The driver was taken to the hospital and later discharged, and a backup driver safely completed the route.

“I feel proud and happy,” Catrina said afterward. Superintendent Jim Grubbs praised the students for staying calm and working together, calling their actions “truly outstanding.”
