At 102 years old, World War II veteran Robbie Hall proved that adventure has no age limit as she took to the skies above Cambridge in a special glider flight made possible by the Cambridge Gliding Centre.
Hall, who served with Bomber Command during the war, had long dreamed of flying again and finally saw that wish come true in a peaceful and breathtaking journey through the clouds.
The unforgettable experience came together after the Taxi Charity for Military Veterans met the gliding team at North Weald Airfield on Remembrance Sunday. During that meeting, Robbie shared her love of flying, explaining that while the charity had treated her to a Spitfire flight last year, she hoped to experience the skies once more, this time in a glider.
The Cambridge Gliding Centre immediately offered her a complimentary flight, and on the day of the experience, perfect weather allowed Robbie to take in sweeping views and even take over the controls herself.
Robbie was accompanied by Taxi Charity ambassador Kaye Gladden Thorpe and her husband Al, who supported her throughout the day.
Representatives from both the Cambridge Gliding Centre and the Taxi Charity called it an honor to be part of such a meaningful moment, celebrating Robbie’s remarkable spirit, her service, and her enduring love of life high above the Cambridgeshire countryside.
