At a small Virginia adoption event, a 60-pound pit bull-lab mix named Sienna changed her life, and someone else’s, without a single word.
“She sat quietly at his feet, refused to budge, and softly placed her paw on his leg,” shared Friends of Campbell County Animal Control in a now-viral Facebook post. “It wasn’t a trick. It wasn’t prompted. It was pure intuition.”
Despite having no medical training, Sienna zeroed in on a man standing slightly apart from the crowd. She looked him in the eye, placed her paw on his leg, and stayed. That man, Josh Davis, had unknowingly forgotten to take his epilepsy medication that morning, and Sienna somehow knew before anyone else did.
“It looked like something you’d see in the movies,” said Josh’s wife, Kristen Davis. “She kept putting her paw up on his leg, and like, ‘Hey, are you paying attention to me? I’m trying to talk to you.’ We were all kind of standing around, like, ‘Did that just happen?’”

Word spread fast. News stations across the country picked up the story, and the shelter was flooded with adoption applications for their intuitive, big-hearted girl.
But it turns out, someone had already seen something special in Sienna before the headlines. Virginia resident Sharon Sweeney had submitted an adoption request before the event, and this week, she officially gave Sienna her forever home.
Jackie Poppe, a volunteer at Friends of Campbell County, was walking Sienna during her moment of heroism. To her, the day was a reminder that rescue dogs can hold unseen gifts.
“Don’t overlook the stray dog that’s in your local shelter,” said Poppe. “All of them have amazing traits about them.”
And in Sienna’s case, a little bit of magic, too.
