Neighborhood kids from Oregon, Ohio, had the brilliant and adorable idea to create a community zoo full of stuffed animals.

The idea was to give their neighborhood an attraction to visit while also practicing social distancing – and don’t worry, everyone was very far apart.

“My two daughters gave me the idea because they kept asking to go to the zoo,” Kelsey Jordan, mother of two, told Majically News in a message.

“I’m a school counselor, so in the summer, we do daily outings, with one day being the zoo. They are 4 and 2 and aren’t understanding the quarantine, they think it’s just vacation with mama lol! So I decided to recruit my neighbors to bring the zoo to them,” she added.

But Kelsey also had a “partner in crime,” Jaime Taylor, who has twin girls that wanted to join in on the fun as well. So, together, and with help from some of the other neighborhood kids, they built the zoo.

“What do you do when the weather is nice and want to get outside but the zoo is closed?? Create your own neighborhood zoo!!!,” Jamie said in a post on Facebook.

“Kelsey and I have been friends for almost 15 years and she just moved into my neighborhood a couple of months ago,” Jaime wrote in a message to Majically News.

It was a ‘Majical’ event complete with stuffed animals that had educational information written about them, just like you’d see at a real zoo. The zoo was a massive success and everyone had a blast, while also keeping their distance.

“We are hoppin today with our neighborhood zoo! Come on out and view the displays via social distancing!” Kelsey wrote in a post on Facebook.

It was a fun day for all the kids and gave the adults a much-needed break to enjoy a community project that brought joy to all. Stay safe everyone, but most importantly, stay positive.
