Animal shelter celebrates as all their pets get adopted into fur-ever homes right before the holidays
The only emptiness that brings happiness is an empty animal shelter – and it was just in time for the holiday season.
A Minneapolis animal shelter has adopted out all its pets so all the furbabies can have warm loving homes for the holidays and beyond.
The Minneapolis Animal Care and Control center held a “Clear the Shelter” event on Friday, which waives the fee to adopt a cat or dog. And get this, by the end of the day, every single animal got adopted – incredible!
People were even lined up around the building so they could bring home a cuddly pet that needed a fur-ever home.
“The shelter is clear! Dozens of dogs, cats and small critters found new homes today. Thanks to our staff, volunteers and adopters for making it happen,” the City of Minneapolis Government posted on social media.

The post also included a photo from the shelter’s door informing visitors that no animals were available for adoption – the only unavailable sign that will actually warm your heart.
The adoptions were on a first-come, first-served basis. If there were multiple adopters for the same animal, a drawing was held to determine who got to adopt it, the shelter said.
“Arriving before the shelter opens does not count as being first,” it said.
It’s still unclear how many animals were adopted, but what we do know, is that the pets that were, are absolutely loving home life.
It brings us so much joy to see so many humans standing in line to take on a loving companion – it’s such a beautiful sight when people open up their homes to expand their families.
